I was listening to Ligonier podcast yesterday for my devotional. The message was from Hebrews 12:1-2.

"Therefore…. Let us run with endurances the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith… "

Two things I learned:

1. The race is not for us to choose, but He sets it.

Doesn't "running with endurances" make you wonder if you can really do it? Can you really run the race well? Until the end? Can you confidently say like Paul, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith"(2Tim 4:7)?

Creating TREE Resources and putting it out there was a bit overwhelming from the start. I thought this race was not fitting for me. The work and the goal we set seemed too big to achieve. I thought I chose a wrong race.

But if the race is set by God, in His perfect knowledge and sovereignty, there is a comfort that He can lead me to run it. He will show me the way, He will give me the energy and wisdom, and He will sustain me till its end. My life is secured in His hands. My righteousness is secured in Jesus Christ.

I am running the race that is set by my Father.

2. If you are running a race you never take your eyes off of the goal.

If you are, while running, looking back, looking around, wondering about your bills, your relationships and all the life issues to solve, you

r race will be a disaster.

A race has a goal. And you need to focus on the goal. If your eyes are not fixed on the goal, you simply cannot run.

Our focus is Jesus. I run the race for His glory. How amazing He lets me run His race!
